Bolton Village Useful Information

o Refuse Collection – Eden District Council 01768 817817 Collections take place early on Monday mornings – or on Tuesdays following a Bank Holiday. Non-recyclable rubbish has to be put in EDC blue plastic bags, with each home allowed 2 replaced bags per week. You can put more than 2 bags out – but only 2 new bags will be provided. For heavy items a special collection can be arranged direct with EDC – 01768 817817 – but a charge will be made.

o EDC also provides a fortnightly roadside collection service for paper/card and plastics on Mondays and garden waste in Green Wheelie Bins on Wednesdays. During the growing season there is a fortnightly weekend skip service for garden waste at the entrance to the Memorial Hall Field. The waste is composted and the compost is returned periodically for community use (free of charge).

o Although there is a roadside collection service, we strongly encourage use of the recycling centre at the Memorial Hall. This provides an income towards the running costs of the hall. Items that can be recycled include Paper and Cardboard, bottles, tins and aerosols, clean foil, and clothes.

o The nearest plastic recycling is at Appleby Car Park.
